John Adams Academy was proud to join our Highlands Ranch community in celebrating the 250th anniversary of America's independence. As we prepare to open our doors, we're grateful for opportunities like today's parade to connect with our neighbors and share our commitment to restoring America's heritage by developing servant leaders.
Thank you to our incredible volunteers, families, and supporters who made today so special. We are excited for all that lies ahead!
Happy Independence Day! ❤️🤍💙

"Today, as many as 99 percent of teachers work at schools that provide laptops or tablets to K–12 students, who then spend a daily average of 98 minutes on screens at school, navigating a jaw-dropping average of 48 unique digital tools annually. Yet academic achievement continues its freefall, and far from blossoming into a generation of computer whizzes, U.S. students have become less digitally literate, as evidenced by their performance on the International Computer and Information Literacy Study. That’s probably because, all too often, districts fork over millions for learning tech without clear purpose, teachers don’t know how or why to use the tools foisted upon them, and kids are gaming and scrolling YouTube Shorts during class."
This is a long article, and the first 2 sections focus on the history of tech in classrooms and the impact on teachers, and from the 3rd section on, is focused on the impact on students and possibilities for change: https://www.educationnext.org/logged-in-tuned-out-fifteen-years-billions-of-dollars-later-what-has-learning-tech-accomplished/

Dear John Adams Academy Families,
We are excited to share some wonderful news with our John Adams Academy community!
Following the tragic school shootings at STEM School, Douglas County established a School Safety Grant Program and made grant funding available to ALL schools in Douglas County to help invest in enhanced security and mental health supports that better protect students, staff, and visitors. We are grateful that Douglas County has made this important investment in school safety because we believe every child deserves to learn in a safe and secure environment.
Student safety has been a priority since the day we began planning John Adams Academy, and we are honored to be working through the final stages of this countywide grant program. This funding will allow us to implement the Campus Guardian Angel system—an innovative security technology designed to provide first responders with real-time situational awareness and faster response capabilities during a critical emergency. The system has demonstrated success in schools across the country and will complement the comprehensive safety measures already being built into our campus. What stood out to me in particular was the fact that this technology allows for seconds-response times, and because we are in Sterling Ranch, every second-every millisecond-counts when it comes to protecting our precious children. As part of our multi-layered approach to school security, this additional tool alongside our highly trained armed staff will make JAA one of the safest schools in the county.
We are proud to partner with Douglas County in advancing innovative approaches to school safety and protecting what matters most—our children, our faculty and staff, and our first responders who are willing to risk their lives to save others. This investment reflects our shared commitment to creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment where our scholars can learn, grow, and thrive every day.
As we prepare to open our doors this August, our excitement continues to grow. Construction is progressing beautifully, landscaping is going in, our outstanding teachers and staff are joining the John Adams Academy family, and every day brings us one step closer to welcoming our founding scholars.
We would also like to remind you to join us for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, August 1, at 11:00 a.m. We would love to celebrate this exciting milestone with our families, tour the new campus together, meet our exceptional faculty and staff, and officially welcome our community to John Adams Academy.
For families who would like to learn more about the Campus Guardian Angel system, additional information is available at: https://www.campusguardianangel.com, and we'll have more updates on our website soon.
Thank you for your continued trust and support. We look forward to opening our doors to our scholars on August 24th!
Warmly,
Mrs. Kiesewetter
